Getting Down To Business
Smart is …
knowing what is happening outside the business
adapting ways of working and managing to match what’s happening outside the business
understanding how to make the most of the phenomenal collective knowledge locked within your workforce.
I have been busy creating a curriculum for the shortly-to-be-launched Learning Place. Now I am more than aware of a growing feeling against curricula in online learning circles. I have a huge amount of sympathy with rebellion against predetermined ‘learn and regurgitate’ courses. That is absolutely not what I am doing.
The intention is for executives to come to The Learning Place with a strategic something they need to do – either differently or better – learning from each other, and external, independent facilitator / coaches on request. The curriculum is a collection of research, insights, stories, case studies, tools, techniques, models etc.
This knowledge will be made as an offering of things that other people and businesses have found worked for them. Naturally, context is king. Although business challenges can have generic characteristics, each dynamic situation is unique. There can be no roll-outs, best practice, blueprints or solutions (aaaargh – that word). What does work is try it and see; just-in-time knowledge experimentation.
I need to dash off now but over the coming days I will post curriculum topics in the Three Elements of Smart TM
.
